Nick Hand

Nick Hand

Nick tells stories of passionate people who make things but who are often tucked away out of sight. Nick seeks out these artisans on his bike, usually as part of some long distance adventure, and records their stories. This started for Nick when he decided to keep the sea close and cycle around the coast of Britain, followed the next year by the coast of Ireland, meeting and recording along the way; The Slowcoast. Nick has continued to explore on his bike and meet interesting craftspeople in the States and Europe including riding from Bristol to Mainz in Germany with a purpose built bike with a printing press on the back. When not creating these stories Nick is a graphic designer and photographer setting up the Letterpress Collective in his native Bristol and has written three books: Conversations on the Coast, Conversations on the Hudson, and The Printing Bike.
